LAGOON TRAINING
YACHTING DIRECTIONS
For our owners who are looking to have additional training onboard their vessel, Brien from Yachting Directions has created some exclusive packages just for you.
Brien has over 3 decades involvement in the marine and construction industry and is a certified RYA Yachtmaster instructor, training over 5,000 clients and students in the Mediterranean and Australia. With exception knowledge of Lagoon Catamarans there is no better person to teach you the additional skills to feel confident handling your vessel.
Practical programs
These practical programs will be one full day (8 hours) or 2 x half days (4 hours each) of tuition on the water, except for Docking (4 hours). All demonstrations are videoed and made available to each customer.
Docking and berthing

Docking and Berthing. Yacht handling under power especially tight spaces.
Practical program 1

Yacht handling under sail. Sail trim. Sail tuning.

Reefing mainsail. Headsail changes especially while underway. Poling out headsail alternatives.

Manouvering under sail, including picking up (& leaving) a mooring under sail, dropping anchor under sail.
Practical program 2

Emergency situations. Safety. Man Overboard, Liferaft, Sinking drill

Heavy weather preparation. Heaving to. Meteorology.
Practical program 3

Rules of the road. (IRPCS).

Deck work. Ropework. Knots.

Preparation for sea.

Maintenance and Repair work. Engines and diesel engine maintenance.
Practical program 4

Navigation, Pilotage, Passage Planning.

Passage Making. Watchkeeping. Logbook entry.

Night cruising.

Victualling.
‘Essential Navigation and Seamanship’ course by Yachting Directions.
This is an RYA course with extensive course materials including charts, instruments and online tools.
All classes are recorded so that students can review the material at their leisure. This is an RYA branded course. It is live online for each class.
Each lesson is 2 hours long and there will be 8 lessons total, all online.
This is an RYA course but doesn’t give qualifications. However, it is considered a good lead into the RYA Day Skipper Theory course. If a client decides to follow through with the Day Skipper Course then the amount is deducted from the Day Skipper full price.
