Towlers Bay and Morning Bay
Nature’s Serenade
Towlers Bay and Morning Bay are two amazing spots overflowing with natural beauty.
Towlers Bay, is used somewhat interchangeable with Morning Bay, however Morning Bay usually refers to the main SouthWestern bay and the suburb itself, whilst the North and NorthEastern arms are referred to as Towlers Bay.
Towlers is a real gem with its stunning sandy beach that provides the perfect shelter from those NorthEasterly winds. As you wander along its intertidal sand flats, you can’t help but feel the serenity of the surrounding Ku-ring-Gai National Park.
Take a refreshing dip in the inviting waters or set off on an adventure along the picturesque bushwalking trails. And when it’s time to drop anchor, you’ll find a tranquil and secure spot to unwind and soak it all in.
Mooring
There are no public moorings available in this bay, but approximately 25 club moorings are present. Please refrain from using the private moorings designated for the 30 houses in the area.
Morning Bay provides shelter and protection from winds blowing from the west to the NorthEast. While the SouthWestern arm of Morning Bay offers ample space for anchoring, it’s important to note that the depth decreases rapidly as you move towards the head of the bay. Towlers Bay, on the other hand, maintains a relatively deep depth, but it abruptly deepens near the beach.
Portuguese Beach
Serenity by the Shore
A lesser-known sanctuary for boating enthusiasts, this secluded beach offers safe anchoring opportunities on its sandy bottom, making it an ideal spot during the winter months, protection from the Westerlies yet bathed in abundant sunshine.
Mooring

Mooring
Resolute Beach provides limited protection and is primarily suitable for anchoring during Westerly winds. It’s important to avoid leaving your yacht unattended – anchoring in Resolute Beach is not recommended during NorthEasterly winds.

Observe the local wildlife, including kookaburras and wallabies, and if you’re up for an adventure, set off on the rewarding 2km return walk along the Flint and Steel track. This scenic trail will treat you to awe-inspiring views of Lion Island and Broken Bay.
Mooring
While there is ample space to anchor near the expansive sandy beach, please be aware that tides have a significant impact in this area. Being North facing, Flint and Steel Beach offers protection from Southerlies, but it can experience swells in less calm conditions.
Hungry Beach
A Secluded Haven

Hungry Beach is a perfect spot for picnics and relaxation, with its soft sandy shores and shady trees providing a tranquil ambiance. Take a leisurely stroll along the beach, collect seashells, or simply unwind and enjoy the sound of gentle waves crashing against the shore.

America Bay & Refuge Bay
World-class sanctuary
Immerse yourself in the captivating charm of America Bay and Refuge Bay, two interconnected inlets embraced by majestic sandstone cliffs. These hidden gems offer protected anchorages and a haven of stunning natural beauty.
Refuge Bay, a tranquil and secluded paradise, offers more than meets the eye. Not only does it boast a shallow saltwater swimming area, but it also features a refreshing freshwater waterfall shower at the southern end of the beach.
Meanwhile, America Bay, smaller and rockier than Refuge Bay Beach, reveals its own unique allure. With a NorthWesterly aspect, this bay showcases a charming creek and yet another hidden waterfall at the back of the beach.
You’ll find America Bay and Refuge Bay on the southern side of Cowan Creek, just west of Hungry Beach. For those seeking an adventure, summon your stamina and climb to the top of the waterfall. From the stunning cliff-top waterhole above the beach, soak in the panoramic views that will take your breath away.
You can also cast your line and test your fishing skills in these tranquil waters teeming with marine life.
Mooring
Refuge Bay is prime location for overnight anchoring due to its exceptional protection from winds coming from all directions, except the North.
In Northerly winds, best to drop anchor at America Bay.
Cottage Point
Upscale dining
Cottage Point is not just a serene and secluded spot; it also offers a range of dining experiences, including the Cottage Point Kiosk and the upmarket Cottage Point Inn.
Refuel, indulge in delicious food, and enjoy watching sea planes take off and land. Afterward, explore the magical wilderness of Cowan Creek.
Mooring
You’ll find a convenient private dock at the Kiosk for boat-goers. Just remember, it’s designed for day boats and tenders up to 6 meters long. If you’re looking for a place to tie up while enjoying a meal at Cottage Point Inn, they’ve got a couple of pontoon spots available for customers.
Smiths Creek
Magical seclusion
Escape to Smiths Creek, a remote section of the Hawkesbury River surrounded by steep hills and limited phone reception. Experience total tranquility as you cruise through this secluded area. Explore the creek by dinghy and be mesmerized by its crystal-clear waters.
With its calm, glassy mornings, Smiths Creek is perfect for stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, skiing, and wakeboarding.
Mooring
There are a total of 10 moorings in the three separate mooring bays on the West side of the creek. If you prefer anchoring, there are ample opportunities in these bays, although do note that the anchorages are quite deep.
Smiths Creek offers protection from wind coming from any direction, making it a secluded and tranquil spot thanks to the surrounding steep cliffs. Just keep in mind that the very last mooring bay at the head of the creek may be exposed to SouthWesterly winds.
