Upgrading their Lagoon Boat Share

From Lagoon 42 to Lagoon 43 – Part 2 with Stewart and Neil

After three years of real-world experience with a Lagoon boat share, Stewart and Neil approached COBLI with a plan—they wanted to create a more refined catamaran share offering tailored to how they actually use their boat. Embracing “change” is at the heart of this decision— “changes” in lifestyle, “changes” in the Lagoon model and “changes” in the syndication structure. It’s only fitting that this Lagoon 43 has been aptly named “Changes.”

If you haven’t read it already, start with Part 1 – Stewart and Neil’s Real COBLI Catamaran Share Experience on the Lagoon 42

A Customised, More Exclusive Experience

Rather than simply joining another Lagoon boat share, they worked with COBLI to design a Lagoon 43 syndicate that maximizes usability and flexibility, focusing on luxury, autonomy, and enhanced liveability.

Neil explains, “We’ve specced the Lagoon 43 with the intention of all owners being able to use it more. It’s designed to create a better work/life balance, with the ability to work remotely down the Hawkesbury or in the Whitsundays.”

For Stewart and Neil, this wasn’t just about upgrading to a bigger boat—it was about fine-tuning the experience.

“We wanted the finer things—everything from luxurious cutlery to the latest technology. This boat is equipped for those who want a well-maintained and well-equipped boat, without compromise.”

Key Upgrades That Set This Lagoon 43 Apart

Alongside the natural improvements of the Lagoon 43, Stewart and Neil have customised the syndicate to enhance usability, comfort, and autonomy.

  • Fewer Owners (4 Instead of 6)– More availability, less scheduling conflict
  • Upgraded Power System– Lithium batteries and better energy management to stay in a bay for days without running the a noisy generator.
  • Starlink Satellite Internet– Stay connected even in the most remote anchorages, making remote work a seamless experience.
  • Additional Code Zero Sail– Improved sailing performance for those looking to push the boat’s capabilities.

With these upgrades, this isn’t just a standard Lagoon boat share—it’s a more premium, thoughtfully designed syndicate for those who want the best possible experience.

Why the Lagoon 43? Stewart & Neil’s Favourite Features

Beyond their own enhancements, the Lagoon 43 itself offers significant upgrades over the Lagoon 42. Both Stewart and Neil are excited about different aspects of the new model.

Neil’s Favourite Features

“The open galley and cockpit setup is a game-changer—it makes the whole space feel more accommodating for entertaining. The new stateroom is another huge improvement, with a larger main bed and a more efficient layout. The boat itself just looks better, with a more refined design and improved accessibility, especially with the new side entrance, which makes boarding easier for elderly guests.”

Stewart’s Favourite Features

“There’s nothing quite like stepping onto a brand-new boat—that smell, that fresh feeling. The hulls are bigger, which means even better stability and performance. I’m also really looking forward to the improved sailing capability, especially with a higher pointing angle. And then there’s the semi-flybridge—having interconnected rooftop seating means guests can join the skipper while underway, which is such a nice feature for social cruising.”

The Best of Both Worlds – Sydney & the Whitsundays

One of the standout features of this Lagoon boat share is its planned two seasons in the Whitsundays.

Stew and Neil have already fallen in love with Airlie Beach, Hamilton Island, and the surrounding anchorages—so much so that they wanted to ensure they had guaranteed access to a boat there during the best season.

“The Whitsundays is just magic. Being able to sail up there, moor at Airlie Beach, and have easy access to Hamilton Island or remote anchorage like Butterfly Bay—it’s a dream,” says Stew.

Back in Sydney, the Church Point location offers quick weekend getaways, with easy access to both Pittwater and the Hawkesbury River.

Neil sums it up, “You can pop out for a night in Pittwater or take it to the harbour. I love the ability to see whales and marine life. It’s far more attractive than owning a holiday home—you’re not tied to one place. The appeal is the diversity.”

A Flexible, High-End Catamaran Share Model

With only four catamaran shares they believe this offering will allow all owners, “more flexibility, fewer restrictions, and more freedom to use the boat when they want,” they explained.

Although Stew and Neil spearheaded this offering, they’re open to adapting it further.

“Nothing is set in stone,” says Stewart. “This will attract people who appreciate the finer things—quality upgrades, better amenities, and a more exclusive ownership experience. But we’re flexible and open to changes as the group comes together.”

This customised COBLI syndicate is about creating the ultimate balance of work, play, and relaxation—whether it’s a weekend down the Hawkesbury, a long escape in the Whitsundays, or a mix of both.
