- Check bilges are dry
- Hull, windows & deck hatches shut
- Check battery & fuel levels
- Fresh water pump & Nav on
- Correct nav lights if applicable
- Check no lines overboard
- Instrument covers off
- Shore power unplugged
- Safety wires at stern attached
- Navigation is active
- Record Engine Start Hours on Log
- 1st time crew safety briefing – stopping the boat, safety gear etc. Nominate 1st mate
